The HOME Inventory is a measure of level of developmental home stimulation available to children. Purposes: (a) examine psychometric properties of Thai-translated HOME (Infant/Toddler), (b) compare Thai mean HOME scores with 3 groups (Hmong, Eskimo, HOME normative sample in the state of Washington) reported in the literature. Convenience sample, Mahasarakham rural centers, northeastern Thailand; HOME completed using 36 mother-child dyads, toddlers 13-35 months. 56% mothers finished grade 6; 76% fathers manual laborers/farmers. Internal consistency .81 for total scale; F tests of the HOME total scale and subscale means, significant differences between Thai and three other groups. Scheffe tests showed Thai means subscale Maternal Involvement, Responsivity, Restriction not significantly different from Washington sample; significantly lower subscales Play, Organization, Stimulation. But, the latter two subscales had poor internal consistency.
